Meeting Manners Networking is one of the primary reasons people join NAPM-OC and we have tried to provide as much time as possible for it to take place both before the meeting and with time during dinner. But our dinner meetings are Business Meetings too. We have information that must be shared and speakers that many have come to hear and learn from. Sometimes we are so excited to see our friends and colleagues that we forget the ordinary common courtesy that is expected in a meeting situation. At our last meeting it was nearly impossible for everyone to hear what was going on because so many were talking over the person at the podium. Although it is nice to sit with co-workers we suggest that you try sitting with new people too. That is true networking. Getting out there and learning from others about who they are, what they do and where they work. The House Chairperson places reserved seating notices at each table. These are for the table host and special guests. Please do not move or remove them. Many of the table hosts are performing pre-dinner duties and are the last ones to enter the dining room. Last month several table hosts could not find their places because their placards had been totally removed. We want everyone who attends our dinner meetings to get the most out of them that they can. We all have responsibility to others to ensure that their rights are not ignored. |
