CO-SPONSORED GOLF TOURNAMENT
IS A SUCCESS!

Friday, September 6th, Menifee Lake Country Club - The rainclouds looked ominous and people did get wet. The anticipated humid hot day was nowhere to be seen. The organization of the registration and starting process was a little uneven. But one golfer summed it up when asked how he was doing by an NAPM staff volunteer on one of the early holes: “We’re having fun!” And he trudged through the wet grounds to his ball to take his next shot. And so went the rest of the day. You should have been there.

The eighth annual joint NAPM-Inland Empire/Orange County Golf Tournament was a hit. Seventy-two golfers managed to get the day off, find their way out to the beautiful course in Menifee, polish their spikes, get their drink tickets, and shotgun to their hole for their tee-off. Everyone got a goodie bag and super service from Aaron and Richard on the drink carts as they constantly patrolled the course in search of famished golfers. Approximately five hours later, a tired but happy clan gathered in the clubhouse for drinks, conversation about the day’s events, while they enjoyed a scrumptious buffet dinner of barbecued chicken and ribs with all the trimmings.

Then it was time to award the trophies to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place foursomes. Those “ringers” from Orange County Containers won the whole enchilada (as they usually do.) The championship team consisted of team members Jeff Crook of Orange County Container, Robert Forman, and Bob “Little Arnold” Fullager, both of Imperial Container, with a nice 58. Second place, only one stoke higher, went to the foursome of Allen Young of Office Depot, Jim Morales, Mike Burcroft and Ron Judge, all from San Bernardino Purchasing. And third place, at 61, went to Mico West: Kyle Muramoto, Alan Muramoto, Bob Muramoto and Matt Jones.

The QSC Audio team had the dubious but hilarious distinction of gathering up the hardware for highest score. (Hint: low score wins in golf.) George Nagy, C.P.M. gathered the trophies for fellow teammates: Wendy Jaquez, Irene Guardado and Steven Relf.

The putting contest ($37.00) was won by Dan Popp of San Bernardino Architects and Engineering. A better number picker that the other three that tied with identical scores for putting. Alan Young of Office Depot won the newly introduced 50-50 closest to the pin cash prize, collecting $120.00 for his skills. The longest drives were logged by Ron Judge and Barbara Schmidt and Jim Morales walked off with the closest to the pin honors.

Wayne Brushett of Data Cabling Solutions won the 27” Color TV; Peter Brown of Satti won a set of irons; and Cindy West won the DVD player. There were twenty other raffle prize winners that enjoyed the vast array of golf and other wonderful donated prizes. Thank you to all sponsors and donors.

There were some valiant efforts on hole #14, the Suzuki ATV hole-in-one shot, but unfortunately, the unit was returned to the Tag Motorsports of Santa Ana dealership. Scads of prizes were raffled off during the evening.
Our thanks to each and everyone of our golfers, the hole sponsors: Varitel, The Electronic Sourcebook and Document Control Solutions, the ad buyers, our staff volunteers, the golf course and their personnel.

We’re going to add some interesting features for next year, with a course hopefully a little closer in, and we promise it will be bigger and better. Both groups look forward to hosting you again!
