Communications Committee
As you know, volunteers perform all functions within NAPM-OC, the only exception being that of the Executive Secretary. What this means is, your President, VP, Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons and Ad Hoc Committee members are contributing their personal time for you and the success of the affiliate.
One of the many committees supporting our organization is the Communications Committee.
The President, in conjunction with a Board Sponsor, appoints the Committee Chairperson. This year’s Communications Committee is comprised by Chairperson Skip Kay, C.P.M., Committee Member Christine Bozley, C.P.M., and Board Sponsor and Director, Alta Cardiff, C.P.M.
The general purpose of the Communications Committee is to promote NAPM-OC and to insure that the association is visible, active and vibrant so as to appeal to those who have not yet joined the group. It also serves to draw the attention to workshops, seminars, and other activities in order to keep the existing members active, motivated and educated.
The Communications Chair is responsible for developing and maintaining a continuing program of activities that will keep the public aware of the endeavors of the Association. It also identifies each member’s significant progresses and professional achievements. The committee has the responsibility for enhancing the image of our Purchasing Profession and takes on the responsibility of planning, organizing, directing and maintaining the lines of communications with members, local media, the academic community and other professional groups and/or societies concerning the activities of NAPM-OC.
A few of the duties of this Committee include:

Updating and maintaining the procedure by which pertinent information
and articles prepared by members are properly released to the local
membership, affiliated purchasing publications, news media and the NAPM
membership via District and National.
- Preparation
and distribution of announcements regarding Association awards, events,
activities and appointments of NAPM Districts and National officers.
- Promote
interest in programs, professional development, certification, and membership
as well as other endeavors.
- Encourage
and develop a speaker’s bureau listing, to be used for promoting appearances
before other associations, civic groups, etc.
- Promote
the NAPM Certification Program, Purchasing Today, the International
Journal of Purchasing and Materials Management, as well as the Purchasing
Spotlight.
- Work with our Web Master to update the affiliate web site with current activities, seminars, workshops, events and on-line payments for membership dues, educational offerings and dinner meetings.
These are just a few of the duties and functions performed by the Communications Committee.
NAPM-OC is always looking for fresh, new and innovative ideas and the unselfish contributions of volunteers to help implement them.
