President-Elect                  View/Print Ballot

What is a President Elect and why would we want to have one? The Board of Directors and Committee Chairs have spent hours discussing the President Elect position and the majority opinion is we need one. The configuration of the Board of Directors would change as follows:

Current Board: President, Vice President, DNA, Treasurer, Secretary and 5 Directors
New Board: President, President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, 5 Directors

The reasons for the new President Elect position are:

  1. Currently the Vice President does not make a firm commitment to continue on as president. The President Elect would only take the position with the absolute understanding that he/she will become President the following year.

  2. We have had the situation where the VP wanted to go on to become President, however was not reelected to the board and therefore could not run for President. The President Elect would automatically be extended for one more year on the board to allow him/her to be President for one year.

  3. As many Presidents have discovered, the job of President of NAPM-OC is a BIG job. Having a President Elect and a Vice President would give the President another person to help carry the load. It could almost be a job-sharing situation, where the President and President Elect are almost interchangeable.

  4. The President Elect will have more opportunity for training to become President than the Vice President has had in the past.

  5. The Director for National Affairs position is being eliminated throughout all of NAPM because of the governance studies. By having a President Elect position, we will maintain the five member team of the Executive Board.

Please join the majority of the Board of Directors in support of a YES Vote for the New President Elect position.

Thank you for your support.
