Supply
Management Certificate Program One
key to an organization's Are you staying current with emerging trends and keeping your skills updated? This class bridges the gap between theory and practical application. Individualized projects and assignments are incorporated to provide the student with a successful learning experience. World class organizations require world class suppliers. What enables that concept to become a reality? As the subject of Buyer-Supplier Relationships is researched, representatives from the supply side will join our class for a candid discussion about the interaction between buyer and seller. Negotiation is one of the most important as well as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. To better understand and apply the theory of negotiation the class will participate in role playing activities and brainstorming processes in addition to the foundation presented in the textbook. What is Total Cost of Ownership? We will explore many of the components of cost: the purchase price, transportation costs, inspection, warranty, training, inventory carrying costs, contract administration, quality issues, risk factors, potential disposal and environmental cleanup. Identifying potential suppliers and evaluating them for eventual selection is a critical supply management responsibility. The subject of Sourcing will lead us to investigate how strategic sourcing plans are developed. Specifics will include: the optimum number of suppliers, single versus multiple sources, supplier involvement in design, negotiation versus bidding, share of supplier's capacity, global sourcing, and ethics. The
above noted topics are just a sampling of the subjects that will be explored
during the sixteen week semester. For more information contact Bobbie
