Supply Management Certificate Program
Tuesdays, August 26, 2003 - December 9, 2003
Coastline Community College, Costa Mesa Campus

One key to an organization's is professional, well educated, motivated employees. This class will provide an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn new skills and enhance existing areas of expertise. Adding to your company's profitability will also make you a more valuable asset!

World class organizations require world class suppliers. What enables that concept to become a reality? As the subject of Supplier Development is researched, representatives from the supply side will join our class for a candid discussion about the interaction between buyer and seller.

Teaming blends organizational resources and the expertise of team members to accomplish a variety of objectives. To better understand and apply the theory of Cross-Functional Teams, the class will participate in role playing activities and brainstorming processes in addition to the foundation presented in the textbook.

Investigating one of the components of e-Commerce, we will follow the selling of a 3,700 acre property, Heritage Field, the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, in a public, internet-based auction. The class will investigate the pros and cons of this type of buying/selling model.

Buying for health care enterprises and educational organizations falls into the category of Institutional Supply Management. Whether employed in this business field or a consumer of these services the material analyzed in this section of the class will add to the student's knowledge base.

How do buyers, purchasing agents and other supply management professionals gain access to the development process of a new product or service within their organization and why would they want to be part of that process? As we examine New Product Development - the answer becomes clear - the early stages of design are where the greatest cost avoidance opportunities will be found and they gain access by bringing value!

The above noted topics are just a sampling of the subjects that will be explored during the sixteen week semester. For more information contact Bobbie Ascarate, Instructor (949) 726-8225, ConsultRDA@aol.com.
