The President's Message

I would like to begin by saying welcome back to all of you and that we are looking forward to an exciting, rewarding and fun new year within our Affiliate.

Let me explain why I’m saying fun. Just take a moment to think about the dinner meetings we have attended over the years with this association and the group of our associates with whom we have shared our day to day work experiences. And let’s not forget the discussions about our own families and friends.

Yes, many of us have met people here that have become part of our personal life and met others that have helped us with our Supply Management careers. I cannot forget the great speakers that we have had over the years, and the fact that we have gathered ideas to use in our own work environments. I know I have.

As for our upcoming fiscal year, I am assuming the helm for this affiliate with both feet on the ground and running. Yes, my cabinet is still short a couple of Directors but I’m working on getting the vacancies filled right as soon as possible. I will keep all of the membership informed of our progress and activities.

I mentioned in my acceptance speech in June the ups and downs of our Membership rolls. This is challenge that is troubling all Supply Chain Associations including ISM. I will be spending a great deal of time on this issue this year. I’m confident that with your help and support we can make great improvements in this area. Stabilizing our membership will be beneficial not only in the near-term but in the long-run as well.

I will also be putting in time with our other Committees such as Educational Resources (EdRes) and Marketing. The EdRes Committee manages the activity of setting up dinner our meeting speakers to present topics that will benefit all members and guests at our monthly dinner meetings. The Marketing Committee manages the process of promoting our Association, educational opportunities and the benefits of membership.

I’m also planning to attend dinner meetings offered by other ISM affiliates in our region and bring back “lessons learned” to our Board Members for their review and consideration.

And finally, I want to remind everyone about our remodeled website and encourage you to take advantage of what it has to offer.

Now let’s move forward into the next chapter of NAPM-OC journey.

I think it’s going to be a good year.

Sincerely,

Phillip Baltazar

President 2009-2010
