About NAPM-OC
The heritage of our organization is long and rich, filled with the admirable deeds of those past and present. It is a record of professionals gathering the best of their positions in life and building on that foundation for the betterment of NAPM-OC members and the organization they serve.
The National Association of Purchasing Management-Orange County, Inc. (NAPM-OC) began in 1958 with a meeting of five dedicated purchasing agents meeting at the Palms Restaurant in Anaheim. Today we are a 350+ member organization representing purchasing and/or supply management professionals from a variety of businesses in Southern California. NAPM-OC is one of about 163 local associations affiliated with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)™ - formally the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM).
Founded in 1915, the Institute for Supply Management ™ (ISM) is the largest supply management association in the world as well as one of the most respected. The mission of ISM is to lead supply management. ISM’s membership base includes more than 40,000 supply management professionals.
The goals and objectives of NAPM-OC mirror those of ISM. We strive to bring the best to the supply management professional. These goals are accomplished by offering an abundance of opportunities for our members.
1. The monthly dinner meetings offer the opportunity to meet your peers as well as attend dinner and hear an informative speaker. Networking during dinner also affords the opportunity to become more informed about a variety of supply management related topics. We offer ten meetings a year (not July or December).
2. The Educational Resources Committee coordinates and arranges seminars and workshops on a variety of purchasing and supply management related subjects designed to help members stay informed about current business practices.
3. The Professional Credentials Committee has developed a workshop series designed to help supply management professionals in their pursuit of the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) designation.
4. NAPM-OC updates a monthly on-line newsletter (Purchasing Spotlight) highlighting the activities of our association. There are articles about various committees, upcoming workshops and seminars, job referral information, and accomplishments of our members.
There is so much to be gained by active participation in the National Association of Purchasing Management-Orange County. Our members are our most valuable resource. We encourage each and every one of you to attend our dinner meetings, workshops and seminars. Our success depends on your participation and contributions. Your ideas, comments and suggestions are welcomed. Continuous improvement of your skills and knowledge enhances your value as a Supply Management Professional in today's business environment.
